PRINCIPLES AND VALUES

NERIT SA as a public broadcaster serves the following principles:

– Transmission of objective information and the promotion of democratic institutions and civil society.
– Quality entertainment and education through the promotion of Greece’s culture and creativity.
– The projection of the image of Greece in the world as well as the significant currents of European and global culture in Greece.
– The free disposal of public content on the Internet and the participatory content production.

The objectives of NERIT are:

– Reliable, valid and pluralistic information, quality entertainment and the effective education of the Greek people.
– The promotion of culture, heritage and the potential of Greek society.
– The strengthening of public dialogue and social cohesion.
– The promotion of the cultural diversity and public broadcasting through the widest distribution networks and systems so as to cover the respective democratic and cultural needs of society.

NERIT operates with full transparency, without exceptions, exclusions and prejudices and with the following available means:

– Produces, assigns, obtains high quality information and entertainment programs aimed at the general public and also eligible to a prime audience/ TV rating, but without having the advertising revenues as a final goal.
– Produces, assigns, obtains in parallel a large number of programs that appeal to small social groups, without any commercial interest, but covering all ages and interests, without exception and without elitism with its main focus on quality that elevates the standards of the average public.
– Provides the citizens with free access to the digitized historical, audiovisual and photographic archives.
– Apply procedures for public accountability and open public consultation, encouraging the citizens to participate.
– Provides the citizens with open and high quality services that are of equivalent or higher value than the license fee.
– Develops social responsibility activities as indicated in the Green Paper of the European Commission

The aim of NERIT is its function as a model in the area of electronic media and to this end develops and invests in the following fields:

– Technological development.
– Modern organizational structure and operation of modern, innovative and transparent regulatory frameworks.
– Development of services and activities that fully justify its public nature.
– Development of services and activities that showcase its social and interventionist role.

In order to respond to the statutory objectives, NERIT offer wide choices in programs and services that will appeal to the widest possible audiences, with the aim of being distinctive from those of public-commercial media and serve as point of reference in the fields of information, audiovisual creation and cultural diversity.

The program and the services of NERIT

– Will serve the diversity and the interests of the audience.
– Will assume the risks that require the production of innovative, entertaining and pluralistic programs which will not have commercial characteristics and will not be elitist with the aim to provide culture to the whole population.
– Will provide to the citizens information and updates on issues of interest the society and issues that affect the society but also,
– Will represent a forum for free expression, where all opinions, beliefs and views can be expressed.
– Will play an active role in information technology, using media such as the Internet, in order to reinforce their bonds with the viewers/listeners and allow them to operate interactively.
– Will play a key role in Greece’s efforts to find its place in Europe and the world.
– Will cover the information needs and interactive communication between the Greeks of Diaspora (Hellenic diaspora) and the needs arising from the cultural diversity of the Greek society.
